This past weekend saw the biggest ever contingent of West London Track & Field athletes head to the British National Indoor Championships, winning one third of the Pole Vault medals on offer!

With six athletes invited to the women’s pole vault, West London Track and Field made up half of the competitors, including the two youngest in the competition - a great achievement and reward to our crew for all their hard work! The highlight was a fantastic bronze medal from Courtney MacGuire, who made three first time clearances, up to and including a new season’s best of 3.94m to secure her place on the podium. Olivia Curran also cleared a season’s best, vaulting 3.81m to finish seventh.

In the men's vault Max Eaves finished one better than last year and won the silver medal with a season’s best clearance of 5.43m. Just 7cm away from the Commonwealth Games standard, Max will no doubt be hoping to achieve this and more in the weeks to come.

Winning a third of the medals in the pole vault is a positive sign and will hopefully inspire those competing in the National Age Group Championships in two weeks to more medal winning performances.

Congratulations to all who achieved qualifications, and a big thanks to all the WLTF staff for their great work!
